We ordered a new gadget - an Omron 790it blood pressure monitor. Previously we have been using a cuff and stethoscope to measure Dix's BP. The stethoscope is supposedly the more accurate, but I have difficulty hearing the heartbeat and consequently read a low diastolic and high systolic pressure. Dix's super ears are very accurate but slower than molasses. Our new Omron came within one point of Dix's reading in a fraction of the time. And it accumulates a record with heart rate, time of day, and can detect irregular heart beats and can download a chart to the computer.
We have the machine setting next to the indoor-outdoor thermometer. We pull out the bread drawer to have a consistent ledge to rest the arm.
