Katie, the Butler

An afterthought to my visit with Don and Jean - their dog Kelly is attuned to all daily activities. She greeted me like a butler, familiarly but respectfully. She is now on the honor system and no longer needs the front gate closed because she will not roam beyond what she considers their property limit, which includes a reasonable buffer onto the neighbor property. When Jean pays the bills, Katie knows to turn toward the mailbox instead of the bird feeder where most outings head. A nice touch - Jean tells Katie when dinner is ready, and Katie runs upstairs to retrieve the stuffed frog and take it to Don to let him know. It's entertaining and nice to see a dog that loves her job.
