We did a lot of preparation to chart out our trip along the front range from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs looking at a dozen houses we found on the internet realty websites. One thing we did not count on was a dead battery in the Beemer. Fortunately Lucy the pet sitter was equipped with a set of jumper cables. Once running, there was enough recharge to operate normally but we stopped off at the dealership in Loveland to get it checked. They replaced the battery and told us to drive it more or else use a trickle charger if the car sits in garage for weeks on end during the winter. Makes perfect sense. I already do that with the camper and the ATV batteries. It was ironic to have the pet sitter concerned about us as much as the pets.
By the time we looked at the 12th house, Dix was casually unmerciful in her critiques. Hodgepodge neighborhood, fake-looking stonework, yucky color, yada yada. I'm more: too pretentious, monstrous, snooty neighborhood, too isolated from stores. So we're making progress. We did end on a good note with the last neighborhood which was in Colorado Springs. It reminded us of St. George but not as hot. A neighbor lady who was working on her yard invited us in to look at her house that might be on the market some day. We had a nice visit and she even proposed we have cocktails at the clubhouse. As we were getting ready to leave her husband got home from work. He was sort of friendly but probably wondering what all his younger wife had gotten into.
Back home we are resetting. Yard cleanup and radon mitigation. I cut a hole into the attic and installed electrical power to the radon fan location. My contractor will drill through the concrete, poke through roof, and provide materials. Part of the deal is I have to help.
