Chris and Joan sent us an ECOcalendar. It's actually quite a timely present. Having dropped out of the workplace, the days have been beginning to mush together. I began the ECOcalendar on the Winter Solstice page, the shortest day of the year for us Northern Hemisphere dwellers. It showcases winter creatures like Japanese Macaques (Snow Monkey) and white feathered ptarmigan and rather than feeling stuck in winter, I feel more in tune with it.
Surprise, surprise. The idiot woman across the alley has gotten a new Christmas puppy to replace the vicious barking dog she neglected and finally got rid of a year ago. Same stupid breed. Same black color. No one will be taking care of it in about one week, not her while she is at work, or her daughter at college, or the one at pre-school, or her worthless son who recently drunkenly skidded into our chain link fence, or her boyfriend who drops in only occasionally. The neighborhood has just downshifted another gear into hicksville.
