Tax Day Tea Party

Susan spent a couple days with us before flying out to visit her sisters in Wichita. She was afraid of getting stuck in the winter snowstorm building in Lander and she almost got stuck here in Casper. She managed to reshedule two cancelled flights to get to her destination the same day, all with such aplomb that I had to remind her she needed to get a move on it to be in time for her rescheduled flight.

We had the opportunity to participate in our local Tax Day Tea Party and it brought back memories of the 60's protest of the Viet Nam War - not because of any rebelliousness, but by its grass-roots rising of sincere protest of misuse of authority by both political parties. It began at noon so there was a procession of workers walking from all directions to the park during their lunch break. That was eire. Noone speaking but all understanding where each other was going. It was like a migration. I saw nicely dressed folk there, some in western wear including hats. That was cool. You could notice half of the party abruptly leaving to go back to work at one o'clock. I could not help but think of the Homeland Security Rightwing Extremism report. Janet Napolitano appears to be a crass politician that will undermine our security in her quest to intimidate dissent. She is not up to that serious position. On the way back to my truck a lady maybe fifteen years my senior and I both stopped for traffic to clear at an intersection. We looked at each other and smiled wishing each other a great day.
