Power On

Power is back on in the basement. New Arc Fault Circuit Interupters have been installed and they work. I'm glad I finally read the circuit breaker installation instructions before energizing the sub panel because with AFCI breakers you wire both the hot and the nuetral to the breaker. So that's what that extra terminal was for. It also said the equipment must be installed only by qualified electrical personel. Bull Corn! I didn't get a building permit either. Enough of this government regulation. All temporary extension cords have been coiled up and put away - for now.

The furnace transformer is now in the furnace room instead of in the laundry room along with a new light fixture. The junction box receives the the new family room circuit and sends it into the wall to the subpanel on the other side. The connector will eventually connect underground conduit from the garage. The brown wiremold carries TV cable and telephone.

On the other side is the new subpanel. I still need to bring down power from the main panel but that can be done when the weather gets better. Until then I am sharing circuits that were available at the wall outlet. After having the panel uncovered and dead wires hanging out for so long, I kept reminding my self during testing - "These wires are hot. These wires are hot".
