Rescue Dogs

We took Hallie and Brian' s four Brittanys for walks while they went on vacation for a few days. I hooked up a harness in the bed of the pickup that keeps them organized, the two rambunctious ones forward and the two trustworthy ones back. They are totally silent except the boys get vocal when I first load them up. The forward pair has a swivel that keeps them from getting tangled. Maci on the left is the only female and the sensible one. She has large feet and saunters close in. Dario is the oldest and venerable. Buddy is their latest rescue dog. He was treated for a heart worm infection that nearly killed him and had hip surgery but is doing well now. You have to watch him because he easily joins up with other dogs and walkers. Sebastian is the idiot of the group and was rescued about two years ago. He can jump a six-foot fence. To see all of them running wildly in the local off-leash dog park gets a lot of double takes from other walkers. Poor Dario ran into something on our last walk. He shook it off but was a bit stoved up by the time we got back.

Hallie brought us brownies for entertaining the dogs. A neighbor of hers put a note on her door that complained that the dogs were noisy while she was gone. She is afraid that neighbor might alert Metro that they are in excess of the three-dog-maximum ordinance. She has been trying to get us to adopt Buddy. I was toying with the idea and even took Buddy over for a few hours. Buddy is uncharacteristically docile - almost too good. I walked him around the neighborhood and he became animated when we approached his family home. I told Dix I did not think we were ready to have a dog again and she agreed, but at this point it does take some active resistance.

Before he left for another 20-day stint at the rig, next door neighbor Jess told us he and Cara are separating. She was gone for the 10 days he was at home with the kids. It was not a great surprise to us as it seemed she had been spending a lot of time with her personal kick-boxing trainer. While she has not verbally confirmed their situation, it became pretty convincing when she dumped his fish tank into the driveway yesterday.
