UPDATE: Green's Sewer and Drain tackled the job in 15 minutes - cutting out roots about 50 feet into the line. Glug glug glug glug glug.
I become obsessed with solving a problem when the real solution is to call in the professionals. After three hours I finally broke a passage through our kitchen sewer blockage using a hose and a pressure nozzle but there is still enough caked white salts or soap or something in the line that restricts flow. I don't know why I resist calling in Roto-Rooter. Having done a barely passable job, I need to call them anyway.
