Went Fishing

Went to Sitka, Alaska with Travis and his two boys. Met Fred and his brother there. It was nice reunions all around, including with Earnie the sea lion who cruises around the dock in wait of fish trimmings. At 2000 pounds, Earnie has nearly sunk the dock in the past so they dump the trimmings a little further out to sea now. I forgot how strenuous pulling up heavy halibut from 260 feet is, especially on a rocking boat. Seas were six feet - at times it was like taking jumps on a motorcycle track. Whales got in the jumping action too.

Back home Delores had a nice birthday gathering for Don and Steve - chicken and fixings in the garage. Of course Steve brought his two dogs, Honey and Buddy and we brought Buddy #2. It was edgy at first with Buddy R goading Buddy A into playing while Honey, a big sheep guard-dog, showed a bit of jealousy. After much sniffing the three settled down into remarkable good behavior, much to the relief of our hostess I'm sure. We had a wonderful time.

Ida and Steve with dogs on best behavior.
