Figuring out the News
More and more news articles are nonsensical. News reporters are so lazy or biased, their stories no longer provide actual news or useful information. With the passing of Tim Russert, NBC has lost the closest they ever came to objective reporting. Headlines in the Trib announce Bush authorizes harassment of polar bears as if that were the goal of the administration. Today an entire article describes airlines to require minimum stays without providing the rationale behind that. The reader is left with the impression that somehow a quick return costs more or is a greater inconvenience to the airline. Nowhere does it simply explain the airlines wish to raise fares to those who can/must afford travel (business) without scaring off casual or recreational travelers. When the administration proposes practical cures for high oil prices, they are blown off as "not immediate solutions" yet alternative proposals based on things that have yet to be invented are highly praised. Some radio programs still digest current events fairly well but may soon fall victim to the lowest common denominator "fairness" in reporting.
