Inertia

We have written off a couple of retirement areas. One was in the pines, The Pinery near Castle Rock. Too far from everything and just trophy homes in an artificial community. That would be the same for North Ranch, but it is just so pretty we cannot totally write it off. We looked at a house there that had a gourmet kitchen that Dix was gaga over. Fort Collins was full of smoke from the adjacent forest fire. Checking the neighborhood I have been drawn to, it looked safe from fire but we agreed it is starting to look less rural and more dude farming. So we were pretty happy to get back to Wyoming after this house hunting trip, with a feeling of accomplishment that some areas have now been written off. We continue to do maintenance prerequisite to any sale.

Now the acquisition fever is shifting to a replacement of our '98 Mountaineer. We drove a BMW X3 that seemed fun and peppy. The X5 was too much of a boat. We like the new Ford Explorer but now want to check out the Ford Edge to compare to the BMW X3. And then there's the Honda Odyssey.

I played golf twice this week. Once spontaneously with Ken that emphasized how casual life is in a smaller town. I was doing pretty well, with a few pars, until the beers kicked in and we ceased keeping score.
