It was time to make my move on the camper. I had searched the internet nauseum for a used 21-foot Outback. Except for one already sold in California, there didn't seem any west of the Mississippi. I found a dealer in Denver that had the exact motif Dix favored and they beat the Casper dealer by enough to pay the gas.
A visit with Uncle Al in Manitou Springs helped justify the trip. He was babysitting for his daughter who was in France with her husband. Al woke me out of a sound sleep at six o'clock with a cup of coffee in hand. He wanted me to see the sunrise on Pike's Peak from the back yard deck. Later, eight year old Leland scrambled up some eggs with cheese for breakfast while Al toasted some Eggo Waffles. The eggs were perfectly cooked and Leland did it with a flair - popping the pepper shaker like a seasoned chef.
