Lost and Found

Work is intense. The soaring price of uranium has caused even our company to begin grabbing up ground that was considered worthless a few months ago. Ah, for the good ol' bust days. We botched our Easter weekend plans to visit friends with the complications of work and family pet puniness. Now a puny has overcome both of us in the form of weakness and stuffiness and the runs. Ida's face got puffy and one eye was red as if she was beat up. We are writing off the weekend.

Even the computer is acting stuffed up. A weird thing - there are often periods when we cannot connect to Drudge (and only Drudge) via the wireless XP laptop, yet the desktop with its old Windows 98 never fails. Now I find if I clear the IE cache, the problem is solved for a while.

Someone advertised in the classified section of a found Brittany Spaniel. After the ad was removed from the paper, I called to learn of the outcome. The guy, Travis, said it turned out good for the owner but sad for him - he fell in love with the Brittany. He said the dog thought he was smaller than he really was. As he was working on his car, the dog climbed up onto the air cleaner to be with him. I told him about our dog Poacher who once wormed his way out onto the hood from the front seat of our old Suburban when we were driving up a mountain jeep trail. It was riotous laughter then and still good for a healthy laugh now. He said it was a family from Michigan that had just moved into town that lost him. The husband was so sick about the loss he would not eat. When they were reunited, the Brit jumped into their pickup and the kids were wild with joy! We kept each other's phone numbers for possible future dogsitting.
